Welcome to the Pegasus Web Site
Congratulations to member Dave Swarts who repeated as Masters walker of the year.
The Pegasus women team won the Masters Grand Prix series again in 2015. The mens team came in second for the second year running.
The Grand Prix is a series of races in various locations across the country from 5KM through 50KM.
The Pegasus mens team won the team title in 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2004.
The Pegasus Women’s Team shared first place in 2010 and won in 2014, 2009, 2007 and 2006.
– a unique blend of endurance & technique is more than a stroll in the park. It offers a quality training experience. Competitive walkers train using a combination of running and walking.
The Michigan area offers an abundance of races which fitness walkers use to spike their training, travel and meet new walking friends. Races are held as events in track meets or as separate race events.
Elite men average 6:30 per mile over the 20 kilometer Olympic distance, and approach 7:00 per mile over 50 kilometers.
Women’s times near 7:00 per mile for 10 kilometers.
Walking events are also part of the World Track & Field Championships, Pan American Games, Goodwill Games, and other international meets and events.
Even if an athlete can’t match Olympic performances, walking for competition and fitness is an excellent, low-impact total body exercise that everyone can do.
