Michigan Racewalking

Welcome to the Redesigned Pegasus Web Site

We redesigned the site with the intent to make it easier to update and to find information.  In the future we will be giving access to others in order to provide more information along with quicker updates.

Racewalking

– a unique blend of endurance & technique is more than a stroll in the park. It offers a quality training experience. Competitive walkers train using a combination of running and walking.

The Michigan area offers an abundance of races which fitness walkers use to spike their training, travel and meet new walking friends. Races are held as events in track meets or as separate race events.

Elite men average 6:30 per mile over the 20 kilometer Olympic distance, and approach 7:00 per mile over 50 kilometers.

Women’s times near 7:00 per mile for 10 kilometers.

Walking events are also part of the World Track & Field Championships, Pan American Games, Goodwill Games, and other international meets and events.

Even if an athlete can’t match Olympic performances, walking for competition and fitness is an excellent, low-impact total body exercise that everyone can do.
